Reader in Welsh History, Cardiff University

Originally from Berlin, where I studied and gained my PhD at Humboldt-University, I have lived in Great Britain since 1994. I am a Reader in Welsh History at Cardiff University, where I teach and research history undergraduates and postgraduates through the medium of English and Welsh, mainly in eighteenth- and nineteen-century Welsh history, always in search of links and associations with Europe, the Empire and the wider world. I have made several Welsh history documentaries for radio and television. My two teenage children keep me grounded.
