Marissa is a literary scholar and science writer focused on environmental history and American literature and culture. She studies public attitudes towards the natural world and scientific professionalization as reflected in literature and visual arts of the past two centuries. Her science writing addresses contemporary environmental concerns, with a particular interest in the exploration, science history, and cultural representations of Antarctica.
