I am a lecturer at the University of Sheffield, investigating the process of fibroblast migration during wound healing. Healing requires an immune response, contraction of the wound by recruited fibroblasts and finally closure of the skin epithelium. By understanding fibroblast recruitment we can design strategies to accelerate wound closure.

My laboratory investigates how fibroblasts recognise changes in their environment and the effects on cell migration. Both activation and establishment of polarity in fibroblasts are key events and both regulated by overlapping pathways.
