Associate Professor Mark Hew heads Allergy, Asthma, & Clinical Immunology at the Alfred, Melbourne, and holds affiliations with Monash and Melbourne Universities. Following specialist training in respiratory medicine, he undertook a severe asthma PhD fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital/Imperial College London, and an MSc in Evidence-Based Health Care at Oxford. His research focuses on difficult and severe asthma, and he is on the steering committee of the International Severe Asthma Registry. In 2017, Mark was part of the Victorian government’s clinical guidance committee on thunderstorm asthma, and helped the National Asthma Council of Australia develop thunderstorm asthma guidelines.
