Assistant Professor of Economics, Bowdoin College

Martin Abel is an Assistant Professor in Economics at Bowdoin College and Research Affiliate at the IZA. He holds a PhD from Harvard University.

Abel's research interests are in development economics, labor economics, and behavioral economics with a particular focus on gender. He is conducting field experiments focusing on topics of information asymmetries and discrimination in labor markets. In cooperation with the governments of Mexico, South Africa and Saudi Arabia, he has worked on how to improve employment prospects of unemployed youths and women.
