Matthew Busch is a PhD candidate at Melbourne Law School. His dissertation studies the Indonesian state and the political economy of economic management. He first travelled to Indonesia in 2007 as a winner of the Michael C. Rockefeller Memorial Fellowship. Matthew resided in Jakarta from 2009-2014, working as a consultant providing analysis on regulatory and political risk for direct investors, academic institutions, and donor and development organisations. He is especially interested in the evolution of regulatory and legal institutions since Indonesia's democratisation. Matthew holds a BA, cum laude, in Economics from Harvard College.
