Matyas Liptovszky

Honorary Assistant Professor of Zoo Animal Medicine, University of Nottingham

Matyas Liptovszky graduated as a veterinary surgeon in 2005. He also earned a diploma in wildlife management during his studies. He holds a postgraduate diploma in exotic animal medicine and a master in science communication. He served as zoo veterinarian in different zoos and he is currently the Head of Life Sciences at Twycross Zoo, United Kingdom. As a honorary assistant professor of zoo animal medicine at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, he is involved in the training of graduate and postgraduate veterinary and vet nurse students. He is also clinical lead of the Ape Heart Project and veterinary advisor of the Western lowland gorilla EEP. His main focus of interest is anaesthesia of nondomestic species, clinical research and conservation medicine.
