Mehmet is an Islamic theologian and public intellectual. He established the Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation at Charles Sturt University in 2011. He is the founding Director of Islamic Sciences and Research Academy of Australia in 2009. He received PhD from the University of Sydney. He is the author of three books.
