Michael Christie

Professor of Education, Charles Darwin University

Michael worked in Yolŋu communities as a teacher linguist in the 1970s and 1980s, and started the Yolŋu Studies program at Charles Darwin University with Waymamba Gaykamaŋu and a group of advisers in 1994. Currently leading the research team in Indigenous Governance and Knowledge Systems at the Northern Institute, CDU, his research interests are Yolŋu languages and culture, Yolŋu philosophy and education, and transdisciplinary and indigenous research. Currently he is managing and working in a range of collaborative projects which involve careful investigation into digital knowledge practices and methodology.
