Michael Kodas

Michael Kodas has spent 30 years as a photojournalist, reporter, author and videographer.

His work has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and Newsweek and on the CBS Evening News, PBS Newshour, National Public Radio, Dateline NBC and National Geographic News Watch. His book High Crimes: The Fate of Everest in an Age of Greed was named best nonfiction in USA Book News’ National Best Books Awards of 2008. His latest book is Megafire: The Race to Extinguish a Deadly Epidemic of Flame.

In 1999 he was part of the team at the Courant awarded the Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage. In 2003 his environmental photography was honored with a solo exhibition at Yale University.

Kodas is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and was a Ted Scripps Fellow in environmental journalism at CU.
