Mike is interested in how the various components of the Earth system are linked. In addition to studying feedbacks between fire and climate, Mike is interested in mid-latitude and tropical clouds and how various ecosystems, weather patterns and fire frequency will change in response to anthropogenic warming. Additionally, Mike is the administrator of a software program called MINX, which was designed to use MISR images to compute the height of smoke and clouds above the terrain
