Michael Weinold is a doctoral research in the area of sustainable air transport at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering of ETH Zurich, Switzerland and the Group for Technology Assessment of Paul Scherrer Institute, Switzerland. His research is aimed at improving the accuracy and precision of environmental impact forecasts of future air transport systems.

He obtained his Master's degree in Physics from ETH Zurich in 2021. As part of his degree, he spent one year as a visiting researcher at the C-EENRG research center at the University of Cambridge. He holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics from Vienna University of Technology, Austria. Before re-joining ETH Zurich as a doctoral researcher, he worked as a data scientist and machine learning engineer in the financial industry.
