Michaela Grančayová

Michaela is an independent researcher and language teacher. Last summer, she was awarded a PhD degree in European studies and politics at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. In her PhD thesis, Michaela dealt with the activities and strategies of selected groups and individuals that during the Arab Spring in Egypt and its aftermath battled both politically and socially motivated sexual harassment in the country. Prior to her PhD studies, Michaela studied Arabic language and culture and English language and culture at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University. During her studies, she took part in study stays in Egypt and Iran. In her research, Michaela focuses on sexual harassment as an authoritarian tool in the MENA countries, women political parity across the Arab world, Islamophobia, digital authoritarianism and securitization theory.
