Professor of Paediatrics and Neonatal Medicine, Karolinska Institutet

Mikael Norman was born 1957 in Stockholm, Sweden. He graduated as an MD from Karolinska Institutet in 1982 and finalised his PhD in 1992. In 1995, he was appointed consultant and he became an associate professor in 1998. Between 2001 and 2004 he worked as a senior researcher at the Swedish Research Council. In 2008, He received a chair as professor in paediatrics and neonatal medicine at Karolinska Institutet. Between 1995 and 2015, he worked in different administrative positions (clinical director and head of department) at the Department of Neonatal Medicine at Karolinska University Hospital. Mikael Norman has supervised 25 PhD students and published over 200 papers. Besides being a clinician and researcher, presently he works as chair for the Swedish Neonatal Quality Register, associate editor for the Swedish Medical Journal and consultant for the Swedish Patient Insurance Company.
