My main academic interest is in comparative European politics, with a special focus on Scandinavia and, thematically, political parties. I am also interested in case-orientated methodology and empirical theory.
Since March 2012 I have been a research leader in Södertörn's area-studies centre for research on Baltic and Central-Eastern Europe. My responsibility is for social-science-related research.
My research currently involves projects on:
* Europeanisation and party organisation in the Nordic countries - including a book on the topic), and contributions to a new database;
* the Nordic model of democracy and the Baltic states (within the Nordic Spaces research programme), which has generated a forthcoming book;
* pre-electoral coalitions in the Nordic region;
* methods of party-candidate selection and party-leader selection.
My current teaching includes courses on comparative politics and method.
