Nicholas J. Talley is a Distinguished Laureate Professor at the University of Newcastle. He was previously Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Research and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Health and Medicine at the University of Newcastle, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research (Acting). He is President of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). Nick has published over 1000 original and review articles in the peer-reviewed literature, and he is considered one of the world's leading authorities in clinical research on the stomach, with a H index of 116 (Scopus). He is also the author of the highly regarded textbooks Clinical Examination and Examination Medicine with Dr. Simon O'Connor. Nick was formerly Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida where he held the title of Professor of Medicine and Professor of Epidemiology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and was the Foundation Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney, Nepean Hospital. Nick serves on a number of prominent Boards and editorial boards, edits a major journal (MJA) and currently holds adjunct research appointments as Professor at Mayo Clinic, University of North Carolina and the Karolinska Institute. He is also a Fellow of the RACP, Royal College of Physicians (both London and Edinburgh), and the American College of Physicians.
