My work with the Humanities, and Classics in particular, is concerned with issues that retain great resonance and relevance today, such as gender, sex, and sexuality. Intersecting with that is my work on the history and role of magic and religion from the ancient Mediterranean world onwards, charting both its significance in civic and religious life as well as its impact on scientific, political, and philosophical thought. I have written about ancient erotic magic in the Huffington Post, and given talks and lectures about topics ranging from gender and sex to Epicureanism and the Scientific Method.
