Professor of Health Economics, University of York

Nils Gutacker is a Professor of Health Economics in the Centre for Health Economics at the University of York. He holds a PhD in Economics and a MSc in Health Economics, both from the University of York, and a BSc in Health Care Management from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany.

Nils’ research focuses on performance measurement of health care providers using patient-level data and the theory of hospital behaviour. In particular, he investigates the use of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) as a means of measuring the performance of health care providers in improving patient health.
