Dr Noel Purdy is Head of Education Studies and Chair of the B.Ed. Primary degree programme at Stranmills University College, a College of Queen's University College, Belfast. His research focuses on bullying and pastoral care in schools as well as special needs education provision.

He is also currently chair of the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum. His edited volume Pastoral Care 11-16: A Critical Introduction was published by Bloomsbury Academic in 2013.
