Assciate Professor in Epidemiology, University of Otago

Following specialist training in Public Health Medicine, I undertook a doctorate in epidemiology assessing the relationship between antibiotic prescribing in the community and antibiotic resistance in community infections. Subsequently I have carried out research in a wide range of areas within Public Health Epidemiology, with a focus on contributing to public health through increasing understanding of the transmission, prevention and control of infectious diseases in the community. This includes understanding the effectiveness of Public Health interventions for infectious diseases, identifying modifiable risk factors for infection in order to inform interventions, and social aspects of infectious disease control.
