Sir Gerard Brennan Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Technology Sydney

Paul Redmond joined UTS in 2006 as the inaugural Sir Gerard Brennan Professor after serving for many years a professor in the Faculty of Law at UNSW where he also served as Dean of the Faculty from 1996 to 2002.

Professor Redmond has been a member of a number of professional bodies concerned with corporate law reform and development, including the Corporations Committee of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.

While his principal research interests are in corporate and securities law, Professor Redmond also has a research and professional interest in legal education, professional responsibility and in the application of human rights standards to business.

He is Chair of the Diplomacy Training Program a regional human rights training body, was a founding member of National Pro Bono Resource Centre and has participated in a number of national and international initiatives in legal education.

He was Chair of the Council of Australian Law Deans from 1997-1999 and is a foundation member of the Australian Law Schools Standards Committee established by the Council.

He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2013 for significant service to the law through contributions to legal education and professional bodies, and to the community
