Associate Professor in Sociology, University of Zululand

Paul Stewart was recently appointed Associate Professor in Sociology at the University of Zululand after having taught at the University of the Witwatersrand for twenty years. His research interests and both local and international publications have had mine health and safety, workers' struggles and South African mine labour history as their major focus. He is co-author (with Dhiraj Nite) of 'Mining Faces: An oral history of work in gold and coal mines in South Africa: 1951-2011', Johannesburg: Fanele - an Imprint of Jacana, 2012 and is co-editor (with Johan Zaaiman) of 'Sociology: A concise South African Introduction', (2nd Edition), Cape Town: Juta, 2018.
