Perminder Sachdev

Perminder Sachdev AM MBBS MD FRANZCP PhD MFPOA is Scientia Professor of Neuropsychiatry, Co-Director of the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) in the School of Psychiatry, University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and Clinical Director of the Neuropsychiatric Institute (NPI) at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney. He is a former President of the International Neuropsychiatric Association and current President of the International College of Geriatric Psychoneuropharmacology. He has broad research interests, with a major focus on dementia and cognitive ageing, drug-induced movement disorders, neuroimaging and brain stimulation. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed journal papers and 5 books, including one for lay readers (The Yipping Tiger and other tales from the neuropsychiatric clinic). In 2010, he was named NSW Scientist of the Year for Biomedical Sciences. In 2011, he was appointed Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to medical research in the field of neuropsychiatry, and to professional associations at a national and international level.
