Lecturer in Management, University of Leeds

Peter Gittins is a Lecturer at the University of Leeds. He has a practical working background in farm management at his farm in West Yorkshire. Peter’s research interests are centred around agricultural business management, specifically rural entrepreneurship and approaches to strategic management in farming businesses. Peter has published papers around the role of technology in farming businesses, publishing in the Journal of Rural Studies and International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Peter has won an award at the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) conference in 2019 for the best paper in the Rural Enterprise track: ‘Farm Innovation and Technology Adoption: Drivers, Barriers and Success Factors.’ He is also a student member of the British Academy of Management, Institute for Agricultural Management and a National Farmers Union member.

Peter also undertakes various teaching responsibilities, teaching on topics of entrepreneurship, sustainability, strategy and operations management.
