Tom Austen Brown Professor of Australian Archaeology, University of Sydney

I am an archaeologist interested in the emergence and global dispersal of modern humans and long-term changes in their technology and social life. My research speciality is Australian prehistory and Palaeolithic technology. I have undertaken archaeological research in Australia, France and Africa.

I am a Fellow of Society of Antiquaries and a Fellow of Australian Academy of Humanities.
My recent book on the Archaeology of Ancient Australia won the Mulvaney book award.
