Ray Cassin is an adjunct fellow of the Institute of Social Research, Swinburne University of Technology, where he also teaches in the journalism program. He is a former chief leader writer and opinion editor of The Age, and earlier worked for The West Australian and the Sun News-Pictorial. He has an MA in philosophy from the University of Melbourne.
