I am a community-engaged researcher focused on vulnerable children, youth and families. I'm a faculty member in Sociology at UC Santa Cruz and have written for academic and non-academic audiences. My most recent book is entitled Rethinking Recess: Creating Safe and Inclusive Play Time for All Children in School (Harvard Education Press, 2019).
