Professor of Tax Law, The University of Western Australia

Rick Krever AM is a professor at the Law School of the University of Western Australia.

He is the author of over 90 journal articles and author or editor of over 30 books.

Rick has been seconded to international agencies such as the IMF and has provided tax and law design assistance for organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and many ministries of finance and treasury departments in Asia, Africa, the Pacific, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and Australasia.

His work has included assisting in the design, drafting and implementation of income tax, VAT and tax administration laws. As a post-conflict specialist, he also assisted international agencies in designing and drafting budget systems and legislation for post-conflict jurisdictions including Timor Leste, Afghanistan and Kosovo.

Rick has been appointed to a number of government task forces and reviews including the treasury panels that helped design the New Zealand and Australian CFC regimes, Australia’s revised income tax law, and Australia’s business tax reforms. He has been a visiting professor at universities in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.

In 2019 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his contribution to tax scholarship and academia in Australia.
