Robert Launay

I have conducted field work in Cote d'Ivoire (West Africa) in a Muslim trading population and have published books and articles on Muslims and Islam in West Africa. I have also published recently on the early history of anthropology. I am a founding member of the Institute for the Study of Islamic Thought in Africa and Deputy Editor of the Journal of Religion in Africa.
