I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the University of Pretoria. I co-ordinate and teach the first-year course and has presented ad-hoc short courses in econometrics.
I completed my undergraduate studies in 2006 at the University of Macedonia, Greece and continued with postgraduate studies at the University of Pretoria in 2008. I received a Postgraduate Fellowship from the Department of Economics towards her PhD and a three-year bursary from the South African National Energy Development Institute of the Department of Energy. My doctoral thesis was titled A sectoral benchmark-and-trade system to improve electricity efficiency in South Africa. In 2011 I received both the Economic Research South Africa Certificate for Meritorious Performance in Economics and the Economics Head of Department Prize for achievement in economic research at doctoral level.
My research interests focus on energy and environmental economics, economic growth and development, and applications of time series and panel data econometrics. I have published a number of papers in international and local peer-reviewed journals. I was acknowledged by the Department of Economics as Junior Researcher of the Year in 2011, 2013 and 2014. The University of Pretoria also awarded me the Exceptional Young Researcher prestigious award in 2014.
