Ruy Llera Blanes

Associate Professor in Social Anthropology, University of Gothenburg

Ruy Llera Blanes is a Social Anthropologist (PhD University of Lisbon, 2007). He is Associate Professor at the School of Global Studies of the University of Gothenburg. His current research site is Angola, where he is working on the topics of politics, religion, social movements, political activism, environment and landscape. He is the author of A Prophetic Trajectory (2014, Berghahn), co-author of Going to Pentecost (2019, Berghahn) and also co-editor of the volume The Social Life of Spirits (2013, University of Chicago Press). He is currently coordinating research projects on the drought in Southwestern Angola, and on LNG industry, environmental justice and civic mobilization in Mozambique.
