Dr Scott Firsing is an international relations/security expert focusing on foreign power involvement in Africa and the Middle East. Now based in South Carolina, USA teaching at The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina University, he lectures on a variety topics including Migration in a Global Age, Social Science Research, US National Security and World Politics. Dr Firsing spent 2005-2015 living in South Africa and traveling the globe.

Dr Firsing is a Program for African Leadership (Pfal) Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He recently founded SEUSINS, the Southeastern United States Institute for National Security. He is also an Adjunct Research Fellow at the South African campus of Monash University where he previously served as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the International Studies Department. Dr Firsing has completed fellowships at the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) and the Institute for Global Dialogue (IGD). He co-founded the Aerospace Leadership Academy (AERLA) in 2013, an American institution based outside of Johannesburg, South Africa.
