Seán took up his post in Sheffield after lecturing on German and Comparative Literature at the University of Bern in Switzerland. He was awarded his DPhil from the University of Oxford in 2014, on prefaces in German writing around 1800 (forthcoming as his first book). In addition, he has spent time at the University of Trier, the University of California at Berkeley, the Ruhr University Bochum (as a Visiting Fellow in Classical German Philosophy), and in the Netherlands. He currently collaborates with colleagues in Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Norway as well as in the UK. Since arriving in October 2015, his work has been funded by organisations such as the Worldwide Universities Network and the Wellcome Trust.
