Professor of Leadership, Swinburne University of Technology

Sen Sendjaya is Professor of Leadership at Swinburne Business School, Swinburne University of Technology. He received his Ph.D. from Monash University in 2005.

A leading scholar on servant leadership, Sen has been awarded nearly a million dollars in research grants from governments and industry, including the Australia Research Council. He is the creator of the Servant Leadership Behaviour Scale (SLBS), a widely used measure to inform leadership assessment and training in organisations.

Sen has worked with leaders in the government, transportation, finance, healthcare, higher education and nonprofit sectors. He delivers executive education, corporate workshops, and research seminars in Australia and overseas. Both his research and teaching have been recognised by numerous awards, including Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management Best Educator Award in 2017.

His research articles have appeared in the Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, and Personnel Review, among other scientific journals. He also authored "Personal and Organizational Excellence through Servant Leadership" (Springer, 2015), a book-length treatment on servant leadership behavior in organisations. His most recent book is “Leadership Reformed” (Routledge, 2019).
