Shirine manages the Epidemiology and Demography Department, and the Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine Impact Study (PCVIS). She has an MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Management from Cranfield University, United Kingdom. She has worked for 20 years in organisation development, research and grant management, including with Ashridge Consulting, Ashridge Business School and English Nature. Prior to joining KEMRI in September 2016, Shirine spent five years at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine managing research grants and consultancies in Ethiopia, India and Nigeria. She is currently studying part-time for a Doctorate in Public Health alongside her work.
