Silvio De Angelis

Reader in Geophysics, University of Liverpool

Silvio De Angelis has held research and management positions with numerous earthquake and volcano monitoring organisations, where he was involved in hazard assessment and development of early-warning systems for eruptions and earthquakes. Since 2012, he is based in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Liverpool, UK, where he is a Reader in Geophysics. His research interests encompass interpretation and modelling of the processes that cause and control volcanic and other geological hazards using acoustic and seismic data. His research in seismology and acoustics is frequently complemented by excursions in other remote sensing disciplines in the Earth Sciences. His work, generously supported by numerous research awards, has been influential in providing theoretical and practical foundations for the implementation of real-time eruption detection and monitoring systems at volcano observatories worldwide.
