Professor of Modern History, University of Leeds

Simon Hall joined the history department at the University of Leeds in 2003, where he is currently Professor of Modern History and Head of School. His academic research has focused largely on the post-war United States, especially the freedom movements of the 1960s. Simon, who was once compared by a particularly enthusiastic reviewer to Alexis de Tocqueville, is the author of 1956: The World in Revolt (Faber and Faber, 2016)
