Stanley Andrisse

Assistant Professor of Medicine, Howard University

I am a formerly incarcerated person with three felony convictions, sentenced to 10 years in prison. I was once told by a prosecuting attorney that I had no hope for change. I am now a PhD scientist and faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Howard University College of Medicine.

As an endocrinologist scientist, my biomedical research investigates the intersecting pathways of insulin resistance. The pandemic of obesity and diabetes is highly associated with insulin resistance. As an assistant professor, I teach reproductive endocrinology, metabolism, and women's health to medical, dental, PhD, and allied health students at Howard University and Johns Hopkins University.
