Stephanie Mathieson

Research Fellow, University of Sydney

Stephanie Mathieson is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, The University of Sydney.
Her research is nested within the WISER Healthcare Collaboration, and with her NHMRC Early Career Fellowship, she is focusing on creating solutions to address inappropriate opioid analgesic prescription in Australia. Stephanie completed her PhD at The George Institute for Global Health (awarded 2017) that investigated issues in the management of spinal pain. She has presented her research internationally and nationally, and published in area-specific journals and medical journals, such as a randomised trial published in New England Journal of Medicine that evaluated the efficacy and safety of pregabalin versus placebo in reducing leg pain intensity in patients with sciatica.
