Stephen trained in Leeds and worked as a Lecturer in Old Age Psychiatry at the University of Leeds until he took up his current post as Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in Wakefield in 1998. As well as running a busy old age psychiatry service he is also Lead Clinician for the Wakefield Memory Service and Associate Medical Director for Education and Training for the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. He is also an Examiner and a member of the Medical Education Committee at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. In 2002 Stephen joined the University and has led the Ageing and Mental Health Research Group in the Centre for Health and Social Care Research since his appointment.
