Stephen Ellis

My research centres on the international relations of the Middle East, with particular focus on alliance formation and power balancing in the post-Cold War period. I am especially interested in examining how the United States position in the Middle East has affected regional stability with regard to the Arab-Israeli conflict, Arab-Iranian rivalry and inter-Arab competition.
