Medical academic and Chair of Primary Health Care, University of Cape Town

Steve Reid is a family physician with a background in rural medicine, having worked and run a district hospital in rural KwaZulu-Natal for 10 years and established the Centre for Rural Health at UKZN. He took up the Chair of Primary Health Care at UCT in 2010 and is developing this role to support medical and health science graduates to become more relevant and appropriately skilled in Africa. He is an advocate for rural health and is involved in research in primary health care, health sciences education and human resources for health, as well as the medical humanities.
