Professor of Political History, University of Nottingham

I work (research, teach, blather for money) on British politics and political history and have written extensively on the subject, from Irish Catholic working-class culture to New Labour. My latest book A State of Play (Bloomsbury, 2014), is about the fictional representation of politics. I am currently working on The Labour Party: from Callaghan to Corbyn for Polity Press.

I have appeared on the likes of the Briefing Room, Today and the Week in Westminster on Radio 4. I have also presented a few documentaries for Radio 4, the latest one on the politics of period drama can still be heard here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07tqbw0
