Lecturer in Media and Cultural Studies, University of Sussex

Tanya's research focuses on web user engagements with online personalisation systems, and examines how such engagements intersect with notions of user identity, knowledge production, control and autonomy. As a Lecturer in Media and Cultural Studies, her research projects are underpinned by broader research interests in critical political economy, internet studies, identity theory and qualitative and ethnographic methodologies. Her academic publications include 'Spotify Has Added an Event to Your Past: (Re)writing the self through Facebook's autoposting apps' for Fibreculture Journal and 'Giving the “Viewser” a Voice? Situating the Individual in Relation to Personalization, Narrowcasting, and Public Service Broadcasting' for the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media.
