Timothy J. Shaffer is an associate professor of communication studies at Kansas State University and director of civic engagement and deliberative democracy with the National Institute for Civil Discourse at the University of Arizona. Later this year, Shaffer will join the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Chair of Civil Discourse and associate professor at the University of Delaware.
