Principal Research Scientist, CSIRO

Tom Measham is a human geographer who leads a team of researchers focused on regional and community sustainability at CSIRO Ecosystem Sciences. His current research centres on how regional communities are affected by and engage with the social and economic challenges and opportunities that face them, including the development of mining and energy sectors. His previous research has focused on the way regional communities respond to environmental challenges, looking at the role of social learning and community engagement in diverse rural and urban environments. He holds a PhD from Australian National University where he continues to serve as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Fenner School of Environment and Society. He also holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelors Degree in social history.
