Tom Schmidt is a Research Fellow in the Pest and Environmental Adaptation Research Group (PEAR Group) at the University of Melbourne.

Tom's research focuses on mosquitoes: native species, current invasive species, and potential future invasive species. Tom uses current and emerging DNA-based technologies to answer ecological questions relevant to mosquito control - how do mosquitoes move about, how are their populations structured, how do they evolve in response to insecticides, how can we prevent mosquito invasions, and how can we suppress or control existing mosquito populations?
