Trevor Cook was awarded a doctorate in 2012 with a thesis on the relationship between unions and the ALP. He has been a public relations consultant since 1996, before that he was a senior public servant in the Department of Industrial Relations in Canberra. During the Hawke Government, he was an adviser to John Dawkins and Simon Crean.
