I am particularly interested in Pleistocene hominin mobility, adaptation, dispersal, site selection and niche construction. In my research I have previously focused on Neanderthals (Homo neanderthalensis) and their northern distribution, asking questions such as: where is the northern boundary of the Neanderthal range? is the current archaeological signal robust? or are there biased circumstances, such as geology or research history, which has influenced the current pattern of site distribution? Currently I investigate similar questions but in the geographical context of the Iberian Peninsula with the aim to understand human mobility and adaptive strategies during the Neanderthal-Homo sapiens transition.
