Valeria Casson Moreno obtained her Master Degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Padova (Italy); in 2012 she completed her PhD in Nuclear and Industrial Safety at the University of Pisa (Italy). She has been a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Texas A&M University and Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center at Qatar. She has been working as Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bologna (Italy). Currently, she is Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering at the University of Pisa.
Prof. Casson Moreno main research interest is in Process Safety and in particular:
- Sustainability assessment of emerging processes and technologies related to energy transition (e.g. energy production from renewable sources).
- Past accidents analysis – Lesson Learning
- Risk analysis of hazardous materials
- Security (physical) attacks to chemical and process industry
